Steward River Clean Up I: Remove Invasive Vines
Saturday, 9:00-11:30 AM
Meeting Location: MLK Drive parking area just north of Strawberry Mansion Bridge, east side of MLK (map link)
Project Details: We’ll be working to remove invasive vines and shrubs along the Schuylkill River west bank. Tools and work gloves will be provided. Please wear sturdy, closed toed shoes, and dress warmly in clothes you won’t mind getting dirty! Please also bring water for hydration, sunscreen, snacks, and anything to feel comfortable working outside for several hours.
Weather: Because this project is entirely outdoors, we may need to cancel in the event of bad weather. Otherwise, dress/layer accordingly.

When: Monday through Friday, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Who: Experienced & Rising High School Juniors and Seniors, Both Men & Women
What: Improve your sculling skills with the help of Coach Christopher McElroy, who has more than 25 years of coaching experience. Coach McElroy has worked with scholastic and collegiate programs as well as the US and Puerto Rico National Team (Junior, U23, and Senior Teams). McElroy coaches Springside Chestnut Hill Academy Boys Rowing Team and has previously coached at St. Joe’s Prep, Saint Joseph’s University, Mount St. Joseph Academy, Crescent Boat Club, Malta Boat Club, and Undine Barge Club on Boathouse Row. McElroy coached four crews to World Championships between 2003 and 2015 as well as the Americas Olympic Qualification Regatta in 2016.
Camp races include: Independence Day Regatta, USRowing Club Nationals, Philadelphia Youth Regatta, and Royal Canadian Henley Regatta.
